Student finance

Hello!

I finally settled into a University that I seem to like after transferring AGAIN from the University of the Arts as I didn't feel comfortable in that particular area of London and wasn't happy with the commute.
The Uni itself was amazing - very contemporary with great facilities but the area just didn't suit me.
I transferred to the University of Bedfordshire two days after actually enrolling at UAL. It was a stressful couple of days but I transferred and started at the Uni and really like it.
The only, major problem I have encountered was - student finance.
Normally, student finance runs fairly smoothly, the operators are helpful and know what they are talking about and last year, I had no problems or complaints. Due to my transferring, this year I have encountered really problems. Firstly, instead of transferring my finance, they noted it as a withdrawl and cancelled my application. :( this has left me borrowing from friends and family and working extra hours as well as studying in order to buy the essentials I need including petrol, parking, books and other equipment. To be honest - it's not ideal as I still have car insurance, phone etc to run. However, after much to-ing and fro-ing and lots of phone calls, I have been assured that my money will be sorted in 6 working days :)

I understand that actually this has been a problem for a lot of people this year, alot of whom are living in at Uni and cannot pay rent.

This blog is really just to vent my frustrations but I hope that other people who are having problems can relate and know that they are not the only ones struggling this year! :)

University Problems

Hi Guys,

I've been thinking for a long time that I really ought to start a blog. I've had a lot to deal with this past year - well, maybe not compared to some people, but for me anyway.
I started at the University of Lincoln on the 16th September 2012 and I was really excited and thought "great, this is the beginning of my life" and I couldn't wait to get to my accommodation and start.
However, when I got to the University, I realised after a week or so that I really didn't like my flat and the people there as they were very quiet and I felt very lonely and homesick. I spent everyday on the phone to my friends and family but nothing helped. I decided to take matters into my own hands and applied to change flats and I ended up sharing with some of the best people I have ever met. Anyway, so we had a lot of fun for two weeks but then I developed an ear infection and ended up with tinnitus. I had also realised that the course wasn't quite right and everything went wrong so I left.

I've been struggling a lot but fortunately I met my wonderful boyfriend Joey and he's helped me get through everything.

I took a course in media make-up and was looking to go to University again this year to study but I realised this too late and have missed the opportunity this year as all make-up courses were full and over-subscribed.
I now don't really know what I'm going to do or how I'm going to do it and I get a lot of doubts in my mind and to be honest I'm still not 100% sure - but I decided to write this blog in order to vent as my friends and family are basically sick of hearing it!
I hope this will help anyone who is in the same situation and I feel like it's nice for others to know they aren't alone. If anyone is going through this or have been I would love to hear from you.

This is a very serious blog for my first ever one - but we have to start somewhere!!!

Thanks for reading,

Emma xx
